UE4 Set Design Challenge

Project Description

Having done the Virtual Japan project, I had wanted to create a portfolio piece as a testament to my personal capability in Environment Design especially in the interior design and architectural space. As it is an interest of mine to venture into that space of the industry if the opportunity allows.

In applying for new work I was given such an opportunity as part of a screening process, in which I had to use completely free assets as supplied through Epic Games marketplace to make and decorate an environment within Unreal Engine. Using a wireframe stand-in for a green screen recording space to be used in live TV production.

I first created a set with a night show concept in mind and then reworked the materials and lighting for a morning show variant of the same design.

While unable to get the job, it was a great learning opportunity to become a more capable lighting and environment artist by the end of the test. My future goal is to now learn about Blueprinting in UE4 to be more well learnt and ready for Level Design roles that focus on the mechanics behind an environment design.
